Street lights are important - safety is at stake. 

Street lights are essential to the square to provide a comfortable and safe environment. Even more critical is adequate lighting so pedestrians can negotiate the uneven surfaces of the sidewalks and crosswalks. Yet the poles are in disrepair with electrics exposed, actual fixtures missing from the bare poles, and all look very weather beaten and worn out.
